UI Overview

The Optra user interface is designed to provide intuitive access to all core features through a responsive left sidebar, organizing your work and tools in one unified navigation experience. The sidebar serves as the central hub for navigating between different modules and features within the platform.

Sidebar Navigation

Ask Optra

Ask Optra is your AI-powered assistant within the platform, accessible from the top of the sidebar with a sparkle icon. Beyond the sidebar entry, an Ask Optra button is embedded directly in the header area of almost every page throughout Data Studio and the broader Optra platform — including the Workspaces listing, individual workspace views, Semantic Layers index, the layer editor, the Jobs page, and many other areas across the product. This means you can open Ask Optra contextually from wherever you are without navigating away from your current task. The assistant is under active development and will help you ask questions about your data, get insights, and receive real-time contextual guidance as you work through your analytical tasks. As the feature evolves, Ask Optra will become increasingly capable of understanding your workflow and providing real-time recommendations.

Search

Search provides a powerful full-platform search capability, accessible from the sidebar with a magnifying glass icon. Use the search feature to quickly locate workspaces, projects, semantic layers, jobs, and other assets across your entire account without navigating through multiple pages. The search interface supports natural language queries and intelligent filtering, making it easy to find exactly what you're looking for, whether you're searching by name, description, or recent activity.

Data Studio Section

The left sidebar is the command center for navigating ODA and other Optra features. At the top, you'll see the Optra logo and the sidebar toggle icon (right-pointing chevron icon) on the far right—click this icon to collapse the sidebar to a compact icon-only view when you need more screen space for your work. The sidebar automatically adapts to show either full labels (expanded) or just icons (collapsed) based on your preference.

Below these tools, the sidebar is organized into sections that group related features together:

• Data Studio section contains the core ODA tools:
  • Workspaces (cards icon): The top-level organizational container where teams organize their data projects and collaboration spaces. Click here to create and manage workspaces.
  • Semantic Layers (stack icon): Where you define and manage the reusable business logic and data definitions that ensure consistency across your organization. This is where administrators and data stewards maintain semantic versions and publish definitions for enterprise use.
  • Jobs (rocket icon): The execution and orchestration hub where you configure, schedule, and monitor data processing tasks and automated workflows. Track job runs and manage operational execution from this area.

Bottom of Sidebar

At the bottom of the sidebar, you'll find your personal account menu. Your profile name and/or avatar is displayed here. Next to or near your profile, you'll see a bell icon for notifications—click this to access your notification center where you can review alerts, job completion notifications, system messages, and other important updates. The notification badge will show if you have unread notifications.

Clicking on your profile name or avatar opens a dropdown menu with quick access to:

• Settings: Opens your Settings panel where you can manage your personal preferences, notification settings, theme appearance, and notification quiet time schedules
• Sign Out: Securely logs you out of the platform
• Account Switching: Allows you to quickly switch between different accounts you have access to
• Other account-related options depending on your role and permissions

Responsive Design

The sidebar is fully collapsible, allowing you to maximize your working space when needed. Whether you're exploring Workspaces, building Semantic Layers, or monitoring Jobs, the sidebar remains accessible with a single click on the toggle icon, ensuring you always have quick access to navigation and notifications without giving up valuable screen real estate for your data work.
